The Toyota Corolla 2016 is a special edition of the extremely popular and 11th generation compact sedan, first produced in 1966 which has applied radical make up and some snazzy features to make it a car nobody could take their eyes off. Undoubtedly, it remains one of the chart busters in the auto world since 1997 when it edged past the Volkswagen Beetle as the highest selling nameplate and hitting the 40 million sales figure in July 2013.
Now a highly glossy version with re-designed aesthetics will be available later this year with only 8000 units at disposal to mark the 50th anniversary of the Corolla brand name which incidentally originates from a Latin term for ‘crown of flowers’. The original Corolla was built by Chief Engineer Tatsuo Hasegawa. The Toyota Corolla 2016 will be based on the Corolla S plus with a lot of its optional features as standard features with its focus being on comfort and efficiency.
Toyota Corolla 2016 Exterior and Interior Redesign
The Special edition has plenty of new fixtures that make it a sign of panache and prestige. The sedan is available in three paint finish: Absolutely Red, Black Sand Pearl and Super White. Specially designed lightweight sheet metal and alloy wheels of 17 inches with a glossy black finish give it a sporty look. The front grille with its gaping mouth look and those sharp and edgy distinctive headlights give it an air of sophistication and aggression. The side panels are really exceptional though. It has an interesting design which is more of a deep impression of a crease and slowly rising upward all the way to the rear thus giving it a futuristic look. The Special Edition badge sits below the name Corolla on the trunk top.
Although quite similar to the S plus, the Toyota Corolla 2016 Special Edition features black leather upholstery with bright red border stitches with a red accented dashboard and cabin. Standard features Include Smart key with push button start, comfortable leather trimmed steering handle with shift paddles, SofTex seats, heated driver and passenger seats and rear disc brakes. The 6.1 inches infotainment interface along with Entune Premium console will also be available. Also available are auxiliary audio jack and USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Toyota Corolla 2016 features a variety of safety features such as front and side airbags, advanced stability and traction, anti-lock disc brakes, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist with a rear camera system.
Toyota Corolla 2016 Engine / Fuel Economy
The Special Edition will feature a 1.8 litres four cylinder 132 HP and 128 lb of torque that can be paired with a continuous variable (CVT) transmission. There is a choice of 4 speeds automatic and 6 speed manual transmissions. Although fuel mileage is largely transmission dependant, the CVT transmission model has a ratio of 29 mpg and 38 mpg for city and highway while four speed returns 27 and 36 mpg.
