2017 Jeep Wrangler Redesign Exterior and Interior

Though it will probably feature a more aerodynamic shape, 2017 Jeep Wrangler is expected to have a boxy, masculine look, with a number of beautifully engineered new features, including a raked and fixed windscreen.  Rumours that 2017 model would be debuted with a new aluminium body shell to replace the steel components, as well as a unibody platform to replace tried and tested body-on-frame platform have been largely laid to rest. In all-weather conditions its huge and strong tires can crush medium size stone without any trouble.

Instead, as a nod to making the new model brighter and somewhat less cumbersome, expect to see an aluminium bonnet, doors and tailgate. Carbon steel is also likely to make its appearance. At the time of writing, the 2017 Jeep Wrangler is expected to feature sturdy black bumpers, updated halogen bulb headlights, a rigid roll bar protecting the cabin in the event of accident and a soft top convertible roof.

Motor press analysts are predicting a markedly more spacious cabin. Seats for both driver and front seat passenger will be bucket style, with centre armrest, adjustable seat belts, and dual front airbags with multi-stage deployment.

State-of-the-art gadgetry is expected to feature. This is will likely include electronic traction control (via ABS) engine management, immobilized, stabilising control features, digital clock and RDS audio system with CD player, MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Powertrain

Considerable doubt and speculation still surround the official details about 2017 Jeep Wrangler engine, but the balance of opinion is veering towards retention of the current 3.6L Pentastar, which features an output of 285 hp with 260 lb-ft of torque. Current generation of diesel engine is also expected to reappear as a customer choice. This is a 2.8L workhorse with an output of 180 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Whether the company will retain the current five-speed automatic, six-speed manual transmission is anybody’s guess just now.

But, most of the speculation now centres on hint dropped by Jeep boss Mike Manley that this car could feature hybrid technology, bringing it bang up to date, but without compromising its iconic status. The immediate torque of an electric motor would mean substantial added benefits to driver’s rock crawling with this workhorse, or negotiating mud and sand. Especially good news for dedicated off-road is the rumour that the 2017 model is to retain its solid front, rear axles, eschew a switch to independent suspension. A solid-axle suspension is unashamed old-fashioned, but still makes lifting and modifying the Wrangler relatively easy.
