The highly awaited fourth generation of Lexus RX was revealed in the recently held 2015 New York Auto show, and from the features we have witnessed, it seems there will be no stopping this car. 2016 Lexus RX 450h Hybrid is a decendant of the hugely popular Lexus RX that released back in 1998, which is basically considered as the pioneer of luxury crossover car division. The first Hybrid car was launched in 2005 and judging by its success; Lexus is bringing forth this beauty in the upcoming model year.
2016 Lexus RX 450h Exterior and Interior
Following recent trend, the outer body of 2016 Lexus RX 450h Hybrid has been made to give it an aggressive appearance. From the looks, it seems it has been inspired by Compact NX crossover and features a larger grille design in the form of a grater. The body has been constructed by using sheetmetal comprising of almost entirely of aluminium, thus leading to a drastic reduction of weight. Less weight logically leads to better fuel economy as well as better handling. This five-seater vehicle is rumored to become available later in a seven seater variant, much to the joy of family car owners worldwide.
The interior of 2016 Lexus RX 450h also gets an overhaul in terms of comfort and technology elements to provide for an attractive package. Following recent Lexus releases, this car too gets more technology and less fancy wooden trim. Conventional leather seats make a re-entry along with the option to be heated or cooled as per requirements. Redesigned and replaced seats will naturally allow for more comfortable seating aside from extra cabin space for carrying cargo.
Speaking of technology, this car will come jam packed with plenty of it. There is a 12.3 inch front screen along with 11.6 inch screens placed on the rear side of front seats so that passengers can enjoy entertainment features. Basic feature includes a high-end stereo system and other safety measures like Dynamic Cruise control, Lane departure alert, Automatic high beam and pre-collision warning system.
2016 Lexus RX 450h Powertrain Specs
In contrast to the car’s cosmetic changes, there seems to be very little new in offering in terms of powertrain configuration. 2016 Lexus RX 450h Hybrid will come powered by a 3.5 litre V6 Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system with two motors to transfer power to its front wheels. Horsepower has been estimated to be around 298, which is impressive considering that this is a hybrid model. An all-wheel variant with electric motor may become available at a later date. There is very little we know about everything else such as fuel consumption or top speed, but we are expecting to acquire some new information soon.
